Poem

This poem offers a stark and moving portrayal of poverty and hunger through the eyes of a young girl and her father, who live without even the barest shelter. With unflinching honesty, the poet captures the child’s vulnerability and the father’s simmering anger at their destitution. His arrogance is not of pride but of despair, a defiant stance against the indifference of society and the promises of faith. Mocking religion and questioning the existence of God, he becomes the voice of disillusionment, while the daughter’s silent suffering underscores the human cost of neglect. The poem blends raw emotion with social critique, making the reader confront the harsh realities of deprivation.
